Pros and Cons

AORUS 15X

Strengths

The gigabyte AIS 15x is equipped with an Intel Core i9-13980HX processor, one of the most powerful CPUs available for laptops in 2024, which handles everything from intensive gaming sessions to demanding creative tasks seamlessly.
The Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 GPU features 8GB of GDDR6 memory and allows for high settings with consistent performance, making every gaming set incredibly immersive.
The laptop has a whopping 48GB of DDR5 RAM, making multitasking effortless and allowing you to run multiple applications, stream your games, and have several browser tabs open without experiencing any slowdowns.
The design of the AIS 15x is sleek and modern with a rugged build quality that feels robust, and the customizable RGB keyboard enhances the overall gaming experience.

Weaknesses

Gaming laptops are known for shorter battery life, and while the gigabyte AIS 15x does a commendable job in this area, you can expect the battery to drain more quickly during heavy gaming sessions.
The high-performance laptop may be expensive, although the text doesn't mention it explicitly, but considering its features, it might be out of budget for some users.
While the AIS 15x has a great display with a 165Hz refresh rate and a high resolution, it's not mentioned if it has any issues like screen burn-in or low brightness levels in certain environments.
There is no mention of any potential overheating issues with the laptop, although it's possible that it might have some due to its powerful hardware.

Acer Predator Helios 18

Strengths

The 18in QHD 250Hz mini LED display is absolutely gorgeous and perfect for media consumption and games.
Performance is right where it should be, with unfr CPU performance in turbo mode and competitive results in our benchmarks.
The RTX 480 GPU performs admirably, being one of the fastest of NVIDIA's second best mobile cards we have ever tested.
System performance is also very snappy, both subjectively and backed up by our PC Mark 10 tests.
The design approach ASA is taking with their 2023 Helios lineup is tasteful and well-executed, with a fine line between gamer and subtle performer.

Weaknesses

The notebook performs rather poorly in our SSD benchmarks, with the Samsung Drive offering some very fast initial read rates that get fuddled quite severely rather quickly.
Fan noise can be an issue, especially in turbo mode, which makes the Helios one of the loudest notebooks we have ever tested.
Battery life is not great, with around 4 and 1/2 hours in our Wi-Fi test with the screen and SDR set to 150 nits.
The webcam is just okay, if nothing special.
Throttled SSD performance under prolonged and probably also not very realistic load can be a limitation.
