Pros and Cons

Dell Inspiron 13 5320

Strengths

The design is sleek, compact, and nice with a quintessential D design and an aluminium build all around.
It has almost all the ports you need in a work laptop, including USB-A, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, and HDMI port.
The laptop feels very solid and durable despite being lightweight at 1.25 kgs.
The 1080p webcam is better than most 720p webcams out there and has a physical privacy shutter.
The high-resolution QHD+ screen looks sharp and crisp with accurate colors (100% sRGB coverage) although the matte finish impacts color vibrancy slightly.
The Dual speakers get pretty loud and have good detailed output, making them suitable for multimedia use.
The laptop's performance is consistent whether on power adapter or battery life, handling casual to intensive work without issues.

Weaknesses

There is minor flex on the keyboard but it doesn't affect overall usability.
The keyboard key travel is a bit low but the key caps are well-shaped and there is ample space between keys.
The display's matte finish affects color vibrancy slightly, although different display modes can be chosen in the Dell CinemaColor app.
RAM is not upgradeable, only the SSD can be upgraded to 1 TB.
Battery life ranged between 6-8 hours which might not be enough for some users.
The laptop's design while sleek and portable, may not stand out in terms of innovation or originality.
There are some pre-installed apps that might not be useful to everyone, like McAfee and SmartBite.

AORUS 17H

Strengths

The combination of Intel's Core i7 13700H and the RTX 4080 laptop GPU is an incredibly well-balanced tandem.
The energy needs to perform at high-end levels are clearly being met, with combined powers of up to 195 watts capable for the cooling system.
Battery life from the 99 watt hour unit is impressive.
Build quality is good with ample sturdiness from the keyboard and trackpad.
The screen has a 360Hz refresh rate, making for smooth gaming and lesser demanding titles.
The AORUS cooling solution is clearly very competent in delivering over 170 watts of combined power.

Weaknesses

Having such high-end power hungry hardware on tap requires Cooling, which makes the laptop thick (3cm) and heavy (2.7kg).
The noise output when running heavy workloads is borderline unpleasant for those around you.
The primary Hardware pairing has downsides, with power consumption being one of them.
The laptop's design targets may not be ideal for everyone, particularly in terms of weight and thickness.
The RAM speed could be improved, especially considering the price point of £2249.
The 1080p resolution on a 17-inch display might feel a bit too slim in terms of pixel density.
