Pros and Cons

Dell Latitude 14 5420

Strengths

Dell's Latitude presents itself as an overall solid allround office device.
The upgradeability is excellent and none of the major components are soldered.
A generously equipped allround business laptop that leaves nothing to be desired in terms of connectivity and security.
We measured a real-world Wi-Fi runtime of almost 13 hours at a display brightness setting of 150 nits.

Weaknesses

The chassis is neither thin nor lightweight and likely will not win any design awards either.
Unfortunately, there are a few missteps here as well, as our review will show.
The 720p camera in the lid is barely worth mentioning. It captures washed-out pictures that suffer from immediately noticeable artifacts.
The input device changes did not pan out. Instead of mouse buttons and a Trackpoint, the Latitude offers a clickpad with haptics so poor that even die-hard reviewers resort to connecting a USB mouse.

Dell Inspiron 14 5415

Strengths

The laptop's power efficiency is great, thanks to the AMD Ryzen 5000 series processor.
The upgradability of this laptop is great, with easy access to RAM and SSD slots.
The portability of a 14-inch laptop weighing only 1.4 kg is perfect for on-the-go use.
The speakers are surprisingly loud at just 2 watts, making them a pleasant surprise.
Battery life is excellent, allowing you to run light tasks for hours.
The laptop can handle light gaming and esports games like CS:GO with ease.
The fingerprint reader provides a convenient way to unlock the laptop.
The build quality is decent, with a sturdy aluminum frame and good keyboard travel.

Weaknesses

The laptop's price starts at $859 for a lower-powered model that's currently out of stock.
There's no Windows Hello facial recognition, relying on fingerprint reader for security.
The metal clip in the center of the bottom cover can be tricky to remove when upgrading or cleaning the laptop.
The battery capacity is just 54Wh, which may not be enough for heavy users.
Thermal throttling occurs after multiple runs in Cinebench R20, affecting performance.
The GPU performance is limited due to lack of vRAM, as seen in 3DMark scores.
A bigger battery would be appreciated to increase overall lifespan and convenience.
Top-firing speakers instead of bottom ones could provide better audio quality and clarity.
