Pros and Cons

Dell Latitude 14 7420

Strengths

The Dell Latitude 1474-20 is a powerful device with plenty of power under the hood thanks to the Tiger-Lake CPUs from Intel.
It has an arsenal of features that will surprise even the most demanding consumers, making it one of the best devices the brand has ever made.
The laptop comes in two variations: aluminum and carbon fiber exterior. The carbon fiber option is 100 grams lighter and a millimeter thicker.
The keyboard is quite comfortable to type on with moderate key travel and clicky yet quiet feedback, while the touchpad offers smooth gliding and accurate tracking.
The battery life is impressive, lasting for 16 hours and 40 minutes of web browsing and 13 hours and 9 minutes of video playback.
The laptop has a whole armory of features, including sensors for face recognition and proximity sensing, which puts privacy on a pedestal.
The display options are excellent, with either a full HD or a 4K IPS display available, both sharing a 14-inch diagonal. Our unit had the full HD panel, which had excellent viewing angles and a high maximum brightness of 435 nits.

Weaknesses

One of the most durable materials in the world, carbon fiber, has some flecks in the base and the lid.
The upgrade ability suffers due to the entirety of either 8/16/32 gigabytes of RAM being soldered onto the motherboard.
Only the storage is upgradable with a single M.2 PCI e4 drive available, which can be upgraded by the user.
There are no ports on the back of the laptop, with all I/O placed across the right and left sides.
The laptop has some blemishes despite being made from carbon fiber, which might not appeal to everyone.
Unfortunately, the upgrade process for RAM is limited due to its soldered nature.
The display's color accuracy can be improved with Dell's design and gaming profile, although it still performs well in factory settings.

Dell 16 Plus

Strengths

Dell has rebranded this convertible from the Inspire lineup to the Plus series, signaling a shift toward premium design and performance.
The Core Ultra 5 to the high-end Core Ultra 9 processor options are a major upgrade.
The display is stunning, with a choice between a 16-in FHD Plus IPS at 60 Hz or a jaw-dropping QHD plus mini with a 90 Hz refresh rate.
The QHD plus mini display is vibrant, hitting 100% SER, 92% ad, and 100% DCIP3, perfect for creative pros.
Performance is strong, handling heavy multitasking, light creative workloads, and even video encoding with ease.
It's built for productivity, scoring high in Cinebench R24 and Geekbench 6.
The design looks sharp with its aluminum chassis, available in ice blue or midnight blue (which is basically black).
Students will dig the two-in-one flexibility and pen support for notes or sketches.
