Pros and Cons

Dell XPS 13 9310

Strengths

The Dell XPS 13 9310 has a fresh new design with intel tiger lake action stuffed inside.
It's definitely one of the better ultra portables that you'll find out there.
The laptop goes from fast to sleep to ready for action in literally as long as it takes you to scan your finger or face.
Benchmarking with the likes of cinebench throw up quite respectable scores for a machine with an integrated gpu.
You can do some respectable amounts of gaming on the dell xps 13, although not too demanding games may run well even on ultra settings.
The wireless performance is strong too with wi-fi six on board which is great news if you've upgraded your home router already.
The battery life is pretty damn decent, usually dragging a solid sort of four and a half to five hours of use out of it from a full charge.

Weaknesses

The laptop's bottom edge does get a little bit warm at times although thankfully not to chestnut roast levels.
Despite the crazy thin finish, you do actually have two internal fans to help keep that hot air moving out of the laptop, which may cause some noise.
Although the 4k video editing experience was fine with patience, it took a little while to process video things like that.
The original doom reboot rather optimistically wanted to run on the ultra settings which of course was a stuttery mess.
The built-in mics and the laptop as well do not have a privacy switch which is slightly annoying.
You will look a bit grainy if you don't get some decent light on you when using the 720p hd webcam.
Intel's integrated iris xc graphics may not be as powerful as dedicated GPUs, limiting gaming performance to somewhat smooth but lower frame rates.

Asus Vivobook 15X OLED

Strengths

The laptop's price of 3,299 ring is an incredible value.
The OLED screen has a resolution of 2880 by 1620 and a refresh rate of 120 Hz, covering 100% of both sRGB and DCI P3 color gamuts.
The battery life is not bad, although it varies depending on usage patterns (6-8 hours).
The inclusion of a number pad is a nice feature.

Weaknesses

The keyboard feels mushy with short travel distance and no responsive feedback.
The trackpad has issues with palm rejection and multi-touch detection, leading to accidental zoom gestures.
The integrated Radeon GPU can only manage around 30 FPS in games even at low settings.
The USB type-c port is limited in its utility due to firmware or hardware limitations.
