Pros and Cons

GIGABYTE G7

Strengths

It offers great performance with a six core i7 cpu, 16 gig of ddr4, rtx 3050 ti, and pci express 4 m.2 ssd.
The 144hz ips panel is very good and provides buttery smooth feedback.
It has three storage options: a pci express 4 ssd out of the box, space for adding another m.2, and a two and a half inch caddy.
The control center allows you to customize rgb backlighting, fan speeds, and other settings.
The keyboard has customizable rgb backlighting and hotkeys for adjusting settings on the fly.
It's reasonably priced and sits just outside the mid-range for the cost.

Weaknesses

There are some exceptions like valhalla and cyberpunk that can cripple performance in most games at high detail.
The frame rate may not hit triple figures, but it will still be above 60 in many cases.
There is bleeding on the edges of the screen, which might be a visual annoyance.
Viewing angles can be limiting for some users, especially when watching videos or gaming with multiple monitors.
No mention of battery life or how long it takes to charge, which could be important considerations for some buyers.

GIGABYTE A5

Strengths

The XMG Apex 15 / Gigabyte A5 X1 is a decent gaming laptop with decent gaming performance, despite the RTX 3070 being close to 2080 Super Max-Q machines from last generation.
The 5900HX processor seems to be the reason it's doing so well in CPU and content creator workloads, making it a great option for those who need strong processing power.
The screen has great response time and ok color gamut and brightness, although my model did not have FreeSync.
The battery can be completely swapped out, which is a pretty uncommon feature these days.

Weaknesses

The build quality and materials aren't quite as nice as some of those more expensive options from larger brands, but that's partly why it's priced better - a compromise in terms of price.
Battery life wasn't great, although this may be improved with the RTX 3060 graphics or 6 core 5600H processor options.
The Clevo software and BIOS are pretty limited, not letting you control the chip properly, especially since the HX series is supposed to be unlocked.
Thermals weren't great, with CPU thermal throttling at 95 degrees Celsius even with the fan maxed out and a cooling pad.
