Is it Worth it?

The HONOR MagicBook X 15 offers great value for its price tag of 2,899 ringgit. Its 15.6-inch IPS display is crisp and suitable for casual viewing. Battery life is decent at around 6 hours, and charging is fast with a 65W charger. However, the laptop's lack of ports may require an external hub, and the webcam placement is unflattering. For those on a tight budget, it's a good option for work or study from home, but consider upgrading to the MagicBook 15 if possible.

Build

The HONOR MagicBook X 15 boasts a sturdy yet lightweight aluminum metal body, weighing just 1.56 kilograms and measuring 16.9 millimeters in thickness. This sleek design makes it easy to carry around. The laptop's build quality is impressive, with a clean and classy aesthetic that rivals more premium options. While it may not come with the Azure Blue chamfer bezel found on its predecessor, the MagicBook X 15 still looks premium for a sub-3000 ringgit laptop. The inclusion of a free laptop backpack further adds to the value. Overall, the build quality is one of the standout features of this laptop, making it an excellent choice for those seeking a reliable and portable device. It’s worth checking out Honor HONOR MagicBook 14, delivering remarkable build.

Display

The HONOR MagicBook X 15 boasts a 15.6-inch IPS full HD panel that is crisp but has slightly cooler color temperatures. The display is good enough for watching YouTube and Netflix, with the added benefits of two blue light certifications to reduce eye strain. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the display, making it one of my favorite features on this laptop. While it may not be perfect, it's a solid choice for those who want a reliable and affordable display in their work-from-home or study-from-home setup. Overall, the MagicBook X 15's display is a strong point, making it a great option for those on a tighter budget. Give GIGABYTE A7 a try—it’s designed to provide an unparalleled display.

Performance

The HONOR MagicBook X 15's performance is a mixed bag. The Intel Core i5 processor handles daily tasks with ease, but falls short in gaming and demanding applications. It scored 4043 points in PC Mark 10 and 3393/1071 points in multi-core/single-core Cinebench tests. However, the integrated Intel UHD graphics are not suitable for gaming, and only manage to run CS:GO on low settings at 60 FPS. Overall, while the laptop's performance is decent for general use, it's not ideal for gamers or those who require more power from their device. Get your hands on Dell Inspiron 15 3521 if you're looking for better performance.

Battery and Charging

The HONOR MagicBook X 15 boasts a decent battery life, lasting around 6 hours in my experience. The device comes with a 56 Wh battery that can be powered up quickly via the included 65 W fast charger. While not exceptional, the battery life is sufficient for social media browsing and work on medium brightness settings. Lowering screen brightness or using the better battery life power mode can squeeze out an extra couple of hours of usage.

Connectivity

The HONOR MagicBook X 15's connectivity options are somewhat limited. You get one USB-C port for charging and data, along with two older USB ports (one USB 3.0 and one USB 2.0). There's also an HDMI port and a 3.5mm headphone jack. If you need more ports, you may require an external hub, which could be a drawback for some users. You might prefer Dell Inspiron 16 Plus 7640, designed with an upgraded connectivity for a better experience.

Features

The HONOR MagicBook X 15 boasts a clean and classy aesthetic with an aluminum metal body that's sturdy yet light (1.56kg). The laptop features a 15.6" IPS Full HD display, offering crisp visuals but cooler color temperatures. Port options include USB-C, two USB-A ports, HDMI, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. A webcam is integrated, but its placement can be awkward. The device comes with a Core i5 or i3 processor, 512GB or 256GB NVMe SSD storage, and Intel UHD graphics. For a superior features, Fujitsu LifeBook A3511 could be the right choice.

Support and Maintenance

The Honor MagicBook X 15 is a budget-friendly laptop that offers good value for its price. However, the lack of adequate port options and awkward webcam placement may be drawbacks for some users. Overall, it's a decent option for those working or studying from home without breaking the bank. If you're on a tight budget, this might work fine, but consider adding more money for better specs.
