Pros and Cons

HP Chromebook 11

Strengths

The display is beautiful, especially considering you're paying $279.
It has a pretty good keyboard that feels rigid and solid.
The trackpad feels nice and is pretty responsive.
The design is really nice with a seamless look and no screws or vents.
You get 100 gigs of Google storage for 2 years, which is useful.
The construction may not be high-end, but it's still decent and gets the job done.
It has two USB 2.0 ports, allowing you to use an external hard drive if needed.

Weaknesses

Battery life is only around 5 hours, which may not be enough for some users.
You only get 16 gigs of on-board storage, but this can be offset by cloud storage.
The keyboard may feel a bit harsh when typing and lacks back lighting.
The VJ camera is pretty mediocre and doesn't match the resolution of more modern devices.
The hinge around the display feels loose and creaky.
You have to work within the limits of the Chrome operating system, which can be restrictive for some users.
Some games and apps may not be compatible with this device.

Acer Aspire 1

Strengths

Acer has built a solid package around it giving us impressive upgradability
Good features such as an awesome battery life
Battery is 43 watt hours and I get around 9 hours of normal use with the brightness set to 30
Trackpad is surprisingly good for the price range
Full-size keyboard with numpad that works as it should

Weaknesses

Has a low-spec Intel Celeron processor which is far from being a powerhouse
The celeron processor in this laptop is far from being able to handle gaming or heavy tasks
Storage is only 128 GB, which can be limiting for storage-hungry users
Webcam is 720p and it's just as crappy as every other 720p webcam
Keys are a bit mushy for my taste
