Is it Worth it?

The HP EliteBook 640 G9 is a solid choice for students or business professionals. Its sleek design and sturdy construction make it a great option for everyday use. The keyboard is responsive and the touchscreen display is nice, although not exceptional. However, the battery life could be better, lasting only 3-5 days on average usage. Upgrading storage to 1TB was easy but be aware that opening the laptop may compromise its water-tight seal. Overall, it's a good value for those who prioritize durability and performance over gaming capabilities.

Build

The HP EliteBook 640 G9 boasts a sturdy build with an aluminum casing that feels premium in hand. The material is resistant to scratches but prone to fingerprint smudges. The laptop's construction is solid, with a firm and secure keyboard that's a welcome change from flimsy alternatives. The device also features a decent touchpad and well-placed ports, making it easy to use on the go. Despite its weight, the EliteBook feels manageable when carried around. Overall, the build quality of this laptop is exceptional, making it perfect for professionals who value durability. You may find HP ZBook Firefly 14 G9 a better fit, thanks to its superior build.

Display

The HP EliteBook 640 G9 features a 14in 1080p display. The screen is decent, with no major issues reported. It's not the most vibrant or color-accurate display, but it gets the job done for general use. The IPS panel provides good viewing angles, and the lack of gloss makes it easier to read in bright environments. Overall, the display is a solid choice for everyday tasks, though it may not impress those seeking a more premium visual experience. If you’re after a better display, HP 14 could be the ideal option.

Performance

The HP EliteBook 640 G9 delivers strong performance in its class. The Intel i5 processor provides smooth multitasking and handling of demanding tasks. The laptop's responsiveness is also notable, with minimal lag or slowdowns during use. While not designed for gaming, the Iris Xe Graphics handle more complex graphics well. The keyboard, although not discussed here, has been praised by users for its durability and tactile feedback. The EliteBook 640 G9 handles everyday tasks, such as browsing, office work, and streaming media, with ease. Its performance is comparable to higher-end laptops in this category, making it an excellent choice for students and professionals who require a reliable device. HP ZBook Firefly 14 G9 might be a smarter choice, offering an upgraded performance.

Battery and Charging

The HP EliteBook 640 G9 has decent battery life, lasting around 3-5 days on standby with minimal use. However, this is shorter than the Lenovo laptop I've reviewed, which lasts over a week on standby. The battery life improves significantly when powered off completely. Charging is possible via the USBC port, but be aware that upgrading storage from 256GB to 1TB NVMe requires using an external drive and may void the warranty.

Connectivity

The HP EliteBook 640 G9 features a port for power, a USBC connection with thunderbolt capabilities, an HDMI port, and two USB-A connectors. It also has a headset jack and Ethernet port. The USBC port is capable of charging and outputting video. You might want to check out HP ZBook Firefly 14 G9, featuring an upgraded connectivity for a superior experience.

Features

The HP EliteBook 640 G9 boasts a robust feature set, including a USB-C port for power and data transfer, two USB-A ports, HDMI, and a headset jack. It also features an Ethernet port and Kensington lock for added security. The laptop's 14-inch touchscreen display is decent, with an Intel i5 processor and Iris XE Graphics providing smooth performance. A single nvme slot allows for easy storage upgrades, making this a solid choice for business or personal use. Take a look at HP ZBook Firefly 14 G9 - its improved features sets a new standard.

Support and Maintenance

The HP EliteBook 640 G9 offers decent support and maintenance features. It has a 256 GB NVMe storage option that can be easily upgraded to 1 TB using the same method as the Asus model. However, battery life is average, lasting around 3-5 days on standby. The laptop also requires regular dusting and cleaning due to its aluminum construction, which scratches easily.

Pros

1. It is very Sleek professional.

2. It is nice and it's although it's Hefty it's not heavy if that makes sense like you feel the weight but carrying it around for a long period shouldn't be an issue either it's about the weight of a school book so that aside.

3. The screen's 1080p I believe it's IPS but I'm not sure could be TN um it's not got the gloss to it so it's kind of hard for me to tell and I haven't looked up the specs but it is 1080P and it is a really nice screen that does very well.

4. The fact that it's not as shiny actually helps me when I'm in the bedroom and I'm typing on it it makes it easier for me to read the screen and to use it without any glares so um.

5. It has Iris Xe Graphics which is better than the older integrated Graphics.

6. Upgrading the storage from 256GB to 1TB was very easy using the same method as shown with the Asus

7. It's a great laptop for a student or business person and household use for normal stuff.

Cons

1. The battery life is not as great as some other laptops.

2. It scratches very easily due to its aluminum material.

3. Fingerprints gather on the aluminum surface.

4. The battery life is decent but could be better with a complete power off.

5. Upgrading the storage requires careful handling to ensure proper sealing

6. It's not a gaming laptop, despite having Iris Xe Graphics.

7. The SC card reader is not useful for students like me and would have been better as an SD card reader.
