Pros and Cons

HP ENVY 13

Strengths

It's a lot of laptop for your money in terms of what you get not in terms of size and weight because it's very thin and very light
You get a pretty good deal with the core i7 quad core 15 watt ultrabooks CPU inside, 8 gigs of ram DDR4, and a 256 gig nvme SSD
The Microsoft precision trackpad is definitely a plus and it's a nice looking screen that's surprisingly bright, often 4k displays particularly with HP
Battery life on this will depend on when you get the full HD or the 4k display option, but it has a 53 hour battery which is healthy for your premium ultra book
The laptop has pretty good banging on some branded quad speakers which is a thing that HP has been doing

Weaknesses

You can't upgrade the RAM after the fact because it's soldered on
The rubber strips along the bottom are difficult to remove and may need to be replaced
It doesn't have Thunderbolt 3, but USBC offers an unprecedented display out hubs and all that sort of thing
Opening up the laptop is a bit of a pain due to the adhesive self-destructing rubber strips
The thermals are not perfect, with the laptop sometimes getting too hot to touch above the keyboard area

Dell G15 5520

Strengths

The speakers are good enough reasons to buy a Dell G15 over the Acer Nitro 5.
The screen is also good, with reduced ghosting compared to other high refresh rate panels on budget gaming laptops.
Games run smoothly at high detail settings when using Nvidia DLSS setting dlss to ultra performance
DLSS filter is unique and can help in playing games smoothly
Good peripherals like keyboard and touchpad
Can be a good option for heavy casual gamers who don't need much power
The system has more power than needed, making it suitable for everyday tasks
Has excellent battery life when using AMD version

Weaknesses

Abysmal battery life makes me want to try out the ryzen 5 version of the g15
Battery life is terrible and can't be used on the go
Speakers might not be enough to convince gamers to buy over other laptops with better sound quality
Single PCIe slot for storage is a limitation
No SD card reader, which is a basic feature in many modern laptops
Pathetically small battery life makes it hard to use on the go
Fake high refresh rate panel can be misleading and might not provide the best gaming experience
Can't compete with other laptops in terms of styling and design

Dell G15 5520
