Pros and Cons

HP OMEN Transcend 14

Strengths

The laptop has a beautifully robust screen with gorgeous OLED display, making it perfect for creators.
It is very portable and thin, making it ideal for those who need to work or game on the go.
The CPU in the laptop is very capable when used as a CPU alone, doing a good job of handling tasks.
The laptop can handle some light gaming, accelerating workflows with its Nvidia Graphics.
It has a nice little metal package and keyboard that's perfect for doing work.

Weaknesses

The laptop is extremely expensive, priced at $3,000 Canadian dollars in Canada.
It cannot compete with gaming laptops, even smaller ones like the Legion 5 Slim or Asus G14, in terms of performance.
The GPU wattage is reduced due to the thin design, making it less powerful than other gaming laptops.
The charger itself only has 140 Watts, which is not a lot for a system with this CPU and GPU combination.
The laptop's name as a 'gaming laptop' is misleading, as it's actually more suitable for creators who want to do some light gaming.

Lenovo ThinkPad L13 Gen 3

Strengths

Lenovo has fixed all of its flaws with the ThinkPad l13 Generation 3 making the laptop smaller and giving it a 16 by 10 display
The laptop has lost some weight slimming down to 1.25 kilograms, 140 grams less than the Gen 2 product
The keyboard is island with a fingerprint reader above it and a touch pad below it typing on it is comfortable mostly thanks to the clicky feedback
The display is surrounded by relatively thin bezels, has excellent viewing angles, a peak brightness of 338 nits, and a very high contrast ratio of 1910 to 1
The bottom firing speaker setup is surprisingly loud while all frequencies are free of deviations
The battery life is good, lasting for 8 hours and 20 minutes of web browsing or eight hours of video playback

Weaknesses

The keyboard has shorter key travel than usual but the spill resistance and backlight manage to sway us in its favor
The display covers only 56 percent of the sRGB color gamut, which might be a deal breaker for some people who need color accuracy
The ThinkPad l13 Gen 3 makes some sacrifices which might be a deal breaker for some people, however these people aren't the hardcore business audience
The upgradeability is poor with up to 32 gigabytes of solder DDR4 memory and only one small M.2 PCIe slot
The processor (Ryzen 5 Pro 5675u) is not the best performer and is outclassed by the HP Elitebook 640 G9's Core i5 1235u in both Cinebench and Photoshop tests
The laptop has zero PWM usage, but this might be a drawback for some users

HP OMEN Transcend 14

The HP Omen Transcend 14 is a premium laptop that defies categorization as purely a gaming device or a creator's tool. With a powerful Intel Core i9 processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 GPU, it can handle demanding tasks, but its slim design and limited cooling system hold it back from true gaming performance. This review will explore whether this laptop is best suited for creators who need a portable powerhouse or if its gaming capabilities are merely an afterthought.

Lenovo ThinkPad L13 Gen 3

The Lenovo ThinkPad L13 Gen 3 has refined its build quality with the use of aluminum alloy for the lid and a combination of glass fibers and plastic for the base. This results in a more rigid lid, weighing 1.25 kg and measuring just 17.3 mm thick. The laptop boasts an island-style keyboard, fingerprint reader, and touchpad, making it suitable for business users. Its display features excellent viewing angles, a high contrast ratio, and zero PWM usage, although its color gamut falls short of expectations.
