Pros and Cons

Huawei Mate 70 Pro+

Strengths

The phone has gotten bigger and thicker, but feels worse in the hand due to its rounded frames, which some people may like.
The camera performance is significantly upgraded with an ultra-wide camera, a T-camera with a larger aperture, and an ultra-chroma camera for more accurate white balance.
The battery capacity has grown to 5,500mAh, and power of wire and wireless charging has been upgraded.
The phone's design, particularly the exterior, is top-notch in my mind, even if it may not be harmonious with others.

Weaknesses

The phone feels worse in the hand due to its bigger size and thickness.
The battery capacity upgrade is not necessarily a significant advantage, as it's still one of the few phones with this feature.
The fingerprint unlock has been moved from under the display to the power button, which may be considered a downgrade (although it's not a big deal for most users).
The processor upgrade is small considering the semiconductor situation in China right now.

Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max

Strengths

The phone has a larger screen, measuring 6.9 inches with an LTPO OLED display
The new A18 Pro chipset provides improved performance and power efficiency
The camera control key is a hardware shutter key that allows for precise control over the cameras
Battery life has been slightly improved compared to the previous model
You can record slow-mo video in 4k at 120 FPS with the main cam
The phone's camera produces excellent photos, especially in good lighting conditions
Video footage is also impressive, with great detail and minimal noise
The selfie camera takes excellent photos, with good detail and exposure

Weaknesses

The design of the phone has not changed much compared to the previous model
Some users may find the camera control key to be a gimmick rather than a useful feature
Close-up shots taken with the telephoto lens are not possible, which can be frustrating for some users
Noise in photos and videos taken at night is still an issue with this phone
The ultra-wide camera has lower sharpness compared to the main cam
Internal reflections from light sources pointing into the phone show up as bright dots in videos

Huawei Mate 70 Pro+

The highly anticipated Huawei Mate 70 series has finally arrived, marking the 15th month since the release of its predecessor, the Mate 60 series. This latest iteration promises to be a game-changer with significant upgrades, particularly in camera performance and system capabilities. The Mate 70 Pro boasts an impressive array of features, including IP69 certification for high-temperature and pressure waterproofing, a larger battery capacity, and improved wireless charging capabilities. With its sleek design and robust specifications, this phone is poised to become Huawei's best yet.

Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max

The Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max is an incremental update to last year's model, with notable improvements in its display, camera features, and performance. The phone boasts a larger 6.9-inch LTPO OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, protected by third-generation ceramic shield glass. While the design has remained largely unchanged, the iPhone 16 Pro Max is slightly taller and heavier. The camera setup is similar to last year's model, but now includes an ultra-wide camera with a 48-megapixel sensor. A new hardware shutter key allows for more intuitive control over the cameras, although its implementation can feel less precise than traditional touchscreen navigation. In terms of performance, the iPhone 16 Pro Max benefits from a better chipset and improved battery life. Video recording capabilities have also been upgraded, including the ability to shoot in 4K slow-motion at 120 FPS with the main camera. While the camera quality has not significantly changed, the phone's ability to take great photos in various lighting conditions remains one of its strengths. The ultra-wide camera allows for macro close-up shots and is capable of producing detailed images with minimal noise. For those who already own last year's model, the iPhone 16 Pro Max may not be worth upgrading to, as the changes are incremental rather than revolutionary. However, for those in the market for a new flagship phone, the iPhone 16 Pro Max offers an excellent all-around package, making it a great option to consider.
