Pros and Cons

Lenovo ThinkPad L13 Gen 3

Strengths

Lenovo has fixed all of its flaws with the ThinkPad l13 Generation 3 making the laptop smaller and giving it a 16 by 10 display
The laptop has lost some weight slimming down to 1.25 kilograms, 140 grams less than the Gen 2 product
The keyboard is island with a fingerprint reader above it and a touch pad below it typing on it is comfortable mostly thanks to the clicky feedback
The display is surrounded by relatively thin bezels, has excellent viewing angles, a peak brightness of 338 nits, and a very high contrast ratio of 1910 to 1
The bottom firing speaker setup is surprisingly loud while all frequencies are free of deviations
The battery life is good, lasting for 8 hours and 20 minutes of web browsing or eight hours of video playback

Weaknesses

The keyboard has shorter key travel than usual but the spill resistance and backlight manage to sway us in its favor
The display covers only 56 percent of the sRGB color gamut, which might be a deal breaker for some people who need color accuracy
The ThinkPad l13 Gen 3 makes some sacrifices which might be a deal breaker for some people, however these people aren't the hardcore business audience
The upgradeability is poor with up to 32 gigabytes of solder DDR4 memory and only one small M.2 PCIe slot
The processor (Ryzen 5 Pro 5675u) is not the best performer and is outclassed by the HP Elitebook 640 G9's Core i5 1235u in both Cinebench and Photoshop tests
The laptop has zero PWM usage, but this might be a drawback for some users

Asus ROG Zephyrus S17 GX703

Strengths

The form factor is easily my favorite in the 17-inch segment right now.
The screen options and overall package are very promising.
The thermal design with two fans and a multitude of heat pipes is smartly designed to channel fresh air into the radiators and out to the back.
The motherboard design and complexly engineered hinges that also push up the keyboard deck showcase Asus' engineering expertise.
The system's ability to seamlessly switch the video throughput and display signal between the iGPU and dGPU without requiring a restart is a significant advantage.
The laptop's potential to match thicker and less portable designs in terms of performance and thermals while being more portable is a major plus.

Weaknesses

The lack of an AMD model on this Zephyrus S17 may be a disappointment for some users.
The IO positioning might raise some eyebrows, especially with the mechanical keyboard placement.
There is no mention of whether the system's battery life and thermals will live up to expectations during gaming sessions or demanding loads.
It's unclear if the system will meet its performance promises in the retail model, as this was a preview unit.
The IO positioning might be less than ideal for some users who prefer more convenient placement of ports.
There is no mention of whether a QHD screen with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 GPU would be available and if it would offer better value compared to the 3080 4K model.
