Pros and Cons

Lenovo ThinkPad T14s Gen 4

Strengths

The Ryzen chips are absolutely fantastic, providing a much needed boost in single core score
The onboard Graphics is truly excellent for most people's everyday needs, especially in an office environment
USB 4 on these laptops allows you to put a thunderbolt dock or high-speed storage, making it a one-laptop solution for heavy work needs
The laptop runs so quietly even when gaming, with fan noise topping out at about 42 DB
The battery life is excellent, with 11 hours and 21 minutes of streaming YouTube over Wi-Fi at 200 nits of brightness
The Ryzen chips make the laptop feel much snappier
The onboard Graphics handles everyday tasks like light video editing and 3D modeling well
The laptop has a compact charger that comes with it, and you can also charge it with your monitors or docks PD

Weaknesses

Battery life is not quite as good as last year's model, at just over 12 hours
The T14s is slightly more expensive than the T14
The laptop does not have an RJ45 port like the T14
It's a bit heavier and fatter than the T14
You may not need the USB 4 on this model, especially if you're just using it for office work
The fan noise can be slightly higher when running demanding tasks
The laptop's single core performance boost is not as massive as some might have hoped
The T14s may not be the best choice if you don't need USB 4 and are okay with a bit more weight

Lenovo ThinkPad P14s Gen 5

Strengths

The built quality is excellent, sturdy and premium with an aluminium chassis.
The new 1.5mm keyboard is comfortable to type on for long hours.
There are plenty of ports to choose from: two Thunderbolt ports, two USB-A ports, HDMI, and RJ45 Ethernet port.
Upgrades are available for memory up to 96GB and m.2 SSD slots.

Weaknesses

The Intel Arc is a useful iGPU, but the optional entry-level RTX 500 AER is not as powerful as one might expect from a mobile workstation.
At full retail price, the ThinkPad P14s Gen 5 is in an ultra-competitive space where your money can go a long way elsewhere.
No configurable option for 4G LTE or 5G connectivity is a letdown
The price starts at £1,210 or $1,568 before taxes, which may be too high for some users
