Pros and Cons

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 5

Strengths

The X1 extreme is one of my favorite thinkpads because I feel it's the right combination of performance, battery, and portability.
It's not too big to carry around in your bag while providing the performance you need for Creative work or any other professional tasks that require a powerful GPU and CPU.
The design is your typical ThinkPad in black with red accents, and the body is made of magnesium and carbon fiber which are light and durable materials.
The display is great for Creative work indoors and Outdoors, it's bright, great contrast, and color, no complaints here.
I can comfortably type on the keyboard every day, it has great key travel spacing and layout.
The speakers sound great, they're tuned by Dolby Atmos and you can play with the audio settings from the Lenovo Vantage app.
It's very easy to upgrade the RAM, there are seven screws at the bottom which you don't need to worry about losing.

Weaknesses

This laptop attracts fingerprints especially around the Palm rest area so having a microfiber cloth nearby helps.
The X-rite color assistant pre-installed crashes after looking around Reddit and support forums, it's supposed to help calibrate the display and let you easily switch color profiles.
Sometimes the fan noise is noticeable when using Microsoft teams or watching YouTube videos.
I'm not a big gamer but playing Call of Duty Warzone with the GPU that came with this review unit had an average experience.
The battery life is around 5 hours which is fine, it can go up or down depending on the type of usage that day.
The charger is a little big so it'll take up a lot of space in your bag
I'm not a fan of USB type A ports, I'd rather replace these with more USBC ports.

HP Chromebook 11

Strengths

The display is beautiful, especially considering you're paying $279.
It has a pretty good keyboard that feels rigid and solid.
The trackpad feels nice and is pretty responsive.
The design is really nice with a seamless look and no screws or vents.
You get 100 gigs of Google storage for 2 years, which is useful.
The construction may not be high-end, but it's still decent and gets the job done.
It has two USB 2.0 ports, allowing you to use an external hard drive if needed.

Weaknesses

Battery life is only around 5 hours, which may not be enough for some users.
You only get 16 gigs of on-board storage, but this can be offset by cloud storage.
The keyboard may feel a bit harsh when typing and lacks back lighting.
The VJ camera is pretty mediocre and doesn't match the resolution of more modern devices.
The hinge around the display feels loose and creaky.
You have to work within the limits of the Chrome operating system, which can be restrictive for some users.
Some games and apps may not be compatible with this device.
