Pros and Cons

LG gram Style

Strengths

The performance with 13th gen is nice and slick, even with loads of tabs open and multitasking.
The gorgeous 120 HZ OLED screen is incredible, very color accurate (100% srgb, 96% Adobe RGB, 99% DCI P3) and has a high pixel density (wqhd+ resolution).
The design is subjective but I think it's very stylish, and the laptop feels super portable and ultra lightweight.
The performance with integrated XE Graphics is sufficient for casual gaming and photo/video editing.
The dual 3w stereo speakers are nice and loud with clear vocals decent bass, although they can get muffled on your lap or at louder volumes.
The LG Gram Style is one of the most exciting laptops made in a while, if you can afford it.
The laptop's performance is more than fast enough for day-to-day workload.

Weaknesses

The price is just a little bit too high for something with a low wattage CPU and no discreet GPU.
There's no touch input on the screen, which might be a drawback for some users.
The OLED screens are more power hungry, resulting in shorter battery life (around 7-8 hours) compared to non-OLED models.
The fans can get loud when running benchmarks or demanding tasks.
The laptop's hinge is not very robust and the screen can wobble a bit.
There's no discreet GPU, which might limit gaming performance or video editing capabilities.
The battery life could be better, especially for a high-end model like this one.

Lenovo ThinkPad P16v Gen 1

Strengths

The keyboard is incredibly comfortable to type on for long hours thanks to the well-spaced out ThinkPad keys and choice of trackpoint or trackpad.
Cooling with dual cooling fans compared to the single one in the p15v the p16v has excellent thermal management to keep the components cool when taxed.
The keyboard is incredibly comfortable to type on for long hours thanks to the well-spaced out ThinkPad keys and choice of trackpoint or trackpad.
Plenty of upgrade options compared to the soldered on devices out there two memory slots up to 96 gigabytes ddr5 and dual m.2 nvme SSD slots
Great built quality, solid, well put together, and dependable
Excellent keyboard, plethora of security tools, and plenty of i o ports to play with two Thunderbolt 4 USBC ports, two USB type A ports, HDMI, an SD card reader
Upgradeability is excellent with two ddr5 sodium slots and two m.2 pcie times four slots

Weaknesses

The base model display panel on the p16v is relatively poor value, you have to pay another £80 or $100 to get the nicer 100 srgb panel
Battery life is poor considering there's a fairly large 90 watt hour battery inside
The Dual fans are noisy even with the integrated GPU and Intel i5 processor
The p16v doesn't give much value for its price tag especially when you start adding the upgrade options for a bit more cash
You can get a better display and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4050 GPU inside for the same price with a Thinkbook 16p Gen 4
The display is below average at this price point, especially when you can get 100 DCI P3 panels for less money elsewhere
It's missing an ethernet port, which might be a dealbreaker for some users

Lenovo ThinkPad P16v Gen 1

The Lenovo ThinkPad P16v Gen 1 is a mixed bag in the value mobile workstation category. While it boasts great built quality, an excellent keyboard, and plenty of security tools, its underpowered Intel Core i5-13500H and integrated graphics are a letdown for professionals seeking value for money. The display, although decent, falls short of expectations at this price point, making it hard to recommend in a crowded market with better alternatives. Can Lenovo's latest workstation overcome these shortcomings?
