Is it Worth it?

The MSI GE76 Raider is a powerhouse gaming laptop that delivers exceptional performance. Its powerful Intel Core i9 processor and NVIDIA GeForce GPU ensure high frame rates in games. The 12th gen CPU handles heat well, unlike some other laptops in its class. While the laptop's size and weight may be a drawback for some, the benefits of this machine far outweigh the cons. With superior thermals, impressive display quality, and a reasonable price tag, the MSI GE76 Raider is an excellent choice for gamers seeking top-notch performance. If you're willing to overlook its larger size, this laptop is definitely worth considering.

Build

The MSI GE76 Raider boasts an imposing design with a metallic finish and aggressive lines. While it's not the thinnest laptop, its weighty build provides stability and durability. The keyboard features a numeric keypad and customizable RGB lighting, adding to its premium feel. A significant con is portability, as this laptop is one of the larger and heavier machines I've tested. The power adapter is also substantial, which might be a drawback for some users. Overall, the Raider's build quality exudes a sense of robustness and performance potential. Take a look at MSI Vector GP76 - its improved build sets a new standard.

Display

The MSI GE76 Raider's display is a mixed bag. The 1440p screen at 240Hz refresh rate offers impressive motion, but the colors may not be as bright and beautiful as some other laptops. It still manages to accurately represent colors with a decent 100 sRGB rating. However, the brightness measures only 309 nits, which may not be enough for very bright environments. The 4K display variant fares slightly better, reaching 448 nits, but it's still not the brightest option available. Overall, while the display is not spectacular, it gets the job done and provides a good viewing experience for most users. If you're after top-notch display, consider MSI Vector GP76.

Performance

The MSI GE76 Raider delivers exceptional performance, making it the fastest most powerful gaming laptop I've tested. The 12th gen i9 CPU handles demanding tasks with ease, and the machine stays relatively cool despite its high specs. Thermal management is impressive, keeping temperatures in check even during intense gaming sessions. This robust performance makes the MSI GE76 Raider a top choice for those seeking high FPS in games. Overall, this laptop's performance is hard to beat, making it a great option for gamers who demand the best. It’s worth checking out MSI Prestige 16 AI Studio, delivering remarkable performance.

Battery and Charging

The MSI GE76 Raider's battery life is average, with around 4-5 hours of usage time. While this is sufficient for most users, it may fall short for those who require longer battery life. The laptop also comes with a large power adapter, which can be cumbersome to carry around. Unfortunately, charging via USB-C is not an option with this device, making it less portable than some other models.

Connectivity

The MSI GE76 Raider's connectivity options are somewhat limited. The laptop features two USB-A ports, one USB-C port, an HDMI port, and an Ethernet port, but lacks any other modern connectivity options such as Thunderbolt 4 or additional USB-C ports. While it's sufficient for everyday use, users who require more ports may find this to be a drawback. Additionally, the lack of wireless charging and charging via USB-C is another oversight in this laptop's design. Get your hands on Lenovo ThinkPad P1 Gen 5 if you're looking for better connectivity.

Features

The MSI GE76 Raider boasts impressive features. Its powerful 12th gen i9 processor and NVIDIA GeForce graphics deliver exceptional gaming performance. The laptop's 14-inch 1440p display offers vibrant colors and great viewing angles, while the 4K model shines with brighter colors and even better contrast. Cooler Boost technology keeps thermals in check, but can be loud. Fans max out to prioritize cooling, a trade-off for optimal performance. Consider discovering the power of MSI Vector GP76, featuring the latest advancements in features.

Support and Maintenance

The MSI GE76 Raider excels in performance, thermals, and price. Despite being a larger machine, its well-designed cooling system keeps temperatures in check. The software-driven Intelligent AI profile switching is seamless, making it easy to switch between performance modes. Overall, the GE76 Raider offers excellent support and maintenance features.

Pros

1. Performance: This is the fastest most powerful gaming laptop that I've ever tested and if you're looking for the highest fps in gaming you found it.

2. Thermals: Despite this machine pushing so much power and such high performance and it being a 12th gen i9 it still wasn't hitting those 100 degree temperatures that that alienware x17 r2 did

3. Price: Although the alienware x17 r2 is $120 cheaper with the closest specs, the fact that this machine is not only faster but has much lower temps actually makes it a better deal for your money

4. Thermal performance despite high power consumption

5. Additional features like number pad and secondary key illumination and speakers aren't complete junk

Cons

1. Availability: It is a little frustrating how in and out of stock every higher end configuration of this computer seems to be.

2. Portability: This computer is one of the larger heavier machines that I've tested as well as one of the bulkiest

3. Fan noise: That cooler boost function with the fans maxed out did keep thermals in check but it was kinda loud

4. No option for charging with USBC port

5. Availability and size make it difficult to carry around
