Pros and Cons

MSI GF63 Thin

Strengths

The typing experience is pretty good
It plays everything even brand new games at low details including Diablo I and Starfield
Casual gamers should be happy with this notebook as it handles competitive play well
Desktop replacement users may find it suitable for their needs due to the presence of two DIMM slots for memory upgrades
The battery life is good, despite being a con, it still weighs less than the average 15.6-inch notebook
It's cheap which makes it great for students

Weaknesses

The battery life is terrible like I previously mentioned
There's quite a bit of ghosting in the display
Only one dedicated external display is supported, relying on USBC for another monitor can be a hassle
Desktop replacement users may find it lacking due to the limited number of ports
The display has unsightly misalignment of stickers which might not sit well with some users
It gets mildly warm while gaming and the single fan is not very effective

Lenovo ThinkBook 14 Gen 2

Strengths

The laptop is very solid performer from Lenovo
It's nicely constructed, minimal in many ways but performs well
When you're playing games, it's a good performer and not all that loud
You can easily keep the vents on the bottom clear for good airflow
Linux performance is good, everything worked just fine with Ubuntu 20.10
It's a very solid choice for small businesses that don't need all the bells and whistles

Weaknesses

MSI GF63 Thin

The MSI GF63 Thin is an affordable laptop that delivers on its promises, albeit with some caveats. This budget-conscious machine is designed for students and casual gamers who want to play the latest games without breaking the bank. With an RTX 3050 graphics card, it can handle most modern titles at low settings, making it a great option for those on a tight budget. However, its battery life leaves much to be desired, and some compromises may need to be made in terms of performance and display quality.

Lenovo ThinkBook 14 Gen 2

The Lenovo ThinkBook 14 Gen 2 is a solid performer that bridges the gap between consumer-grade IdeaPads and high-end business ThinkPads. This laptop's understated design belies its ability to deliver decent performance, making it an attractive option for small businesses or individuals seeking a reliable machine without the hefty price tag. With a focus on simplicity and value, the ThinkBook 14 Gen 2 is worth considering, especially with a crucial upgrade in mind: populating the RAM slot to unlock its full potential.
