Pros and Cons

Oppo Reno12

Strengths

The design is new and cool, with a triple camera setup made up of a main 50 megapixel Sony IMX 600.
The performance is pretty decent for overall day-to-day use in terms of multitasking graphic intensive gen AI all of that stuff there's no real lag
Gaming performance is good, able to play games like Fortnite extensively without feeling uncomfortable
Battery life is excellent, able to get over a day and a half easily
The 80 W superv charger charges the phone quickly, from zero absolute 0 to 100% in around about 45 minutes
The AI features are impressive, with good overall processing on images even in low light

Weaknesses

The macro camera doesn't take very good photos of macro shots, it feels like a bit of a waste
There is no telephoto or improved ultra-wide camera, which would have been better than the current setup
Video stabilization on the front-facing selfie camera is not great, especially when moving around
The video quality on the rear camera is decent but limited to 4k 30fps and 1080p at 60fps
The ultra-wide mode for video recording has to be set to 1080p at 60fps
The phone can get slightly warm when gaming, which could be a concern

Asus Zenfone 9

Strengths

The phone has a solid but lacking camera system, which is not bad for a compact phone.
The software on the phone looks better than what Samsung would offer on the s22 and just makes sense.
We get the large Android material U toggles which you can turn on or off.
Double tapped awake and sleep features are included.
The fingerprint scanner is super fast.
Speakers sound good, although not as loud as the iPhone 14 pro speakers
Battery life makes daily usage a breeze

Weaknesses

We lack some things like Android 13 which was launched right before this review.
The phone does not have wireless charging, instead it has a headset jack.
It is priced higher than the Samsung s22, with new prices ranging from $500-$600
Some add-ons for the phone are expensive, such as a kickstand or backpack mount costing over $100 and $200 respectively
The face unlock feature isn't entirely slow but not the fastest either.
Top speaker is not as loud as the bottom one in stereo setup
It lacks some of the features that I personally prefer, such as gimmicks like 4K video with gimbal stabilization
